im actually 27, and i have no problem recovering. its all about managing your volume and lift frequency. when i was oly lifting i'd do 2-a-days for three weeks at a time 6x per week. you cant kill yourself every workout, in fact i rarely worked to failure or even exhaustion on a single lift. i would incure systemic exhaustion at the end of the work out. my body would recove as a system, and i'd go on. i always aproach every workout with the atitude, do as much as possible as fresh as possible.
