I'm 5'5" and you probably are not positioning yourself properly....the machines take the stress off of your joints and connective tissues.....

Your seat shoudl prob be set to a 1...I usually set mine to a 2.....try adjusting the seat postioning...or try a different version of the same machine...if your gym has it available
