The bison was a tenderloin and my favorite of the three things I made tonight. I also made the 96/4% ground beef and the 96/4% ground round. All cooked in one pan, all seasoned with the same light amounts of salt and pepper so we could really taste the differences. Of the ground, the ground round was the favorite of my husband, my daughter and myself. I however liked the bison better and they did not.
I've been using the ground beef mixed with 99% lean ground turkey breast for soups and had not used it specifically for a burger kinda thing. Tonight I made 2 1 lb burgers so we all could share them and taste them at the same time. The ground round was not too dry and neither was the buffalo despite it's 1 gram of fat per 4 oz serving. The bison had slightly more protein and less cal's than the beef.
The price per lb. on these meats is higher but for me, it's ok since I don't eat as much as a guy. Also, I went to the website's "free offers" area so they will mail me some coupons and put me on their "customers" list to get coupons regularly. I asked hubby to do it for our PO box too. I set my friend up with coupons at work today too.
They also have free range type chicken and pork but my store just had their pork and not the chicken. I'm gonna put in a request for the chicken next time I shop.
