"Stevia" is extracted steviosides (stevioglycosides) from a Stevia plant. It's used as a sweetener in a lot of foods in Brazil (where Stevia plants are commonly found). It's supposed to enhance the actual taste of whatever you mix it with as well. Oh and it binds to sweetness receptor with a better affinity than actual table sugar which is why it's "super sweet." I still have yet to try it though. Sugar alcohols work well in preparing sweet foods too. Most aren't as sweet as sugar, but they elicit a "cool" feeling in your mouth (endothermic reaction I think).
