Slow Cooked Chili
I made this today with a few modifications (marked in red)..... it was easy, quick and delicious!
1 1/4 pounds lean ground beef (lean ground turkey)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 cup dry wine
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon sugar (splenda)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (15-ounce) can red kidney beans, drained
1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained
1 (14-ounce) can Mexican-style stewed tomatoes with jalapeno peppers and spices, undrained
To make the chili:*
Heat 2 teaspoons olive oil in a large stock pot over medium-high heat. Add beef and cook 5 minutes, until browned, breaking up the meat as it cooks. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low, partially cover and simmer 45 minutes on low heat.
