Eggwhites contain ONLY protein. Yolks contain no protein, but a little cholesterol. Wow man. This is pretty basic stuff. Pasta???? Any pasta is good to pack on pounds, if you want the kind of weight that jiggles. Pasta contains NO protein. White (normal) pasta is essentially useless for bodybuilders. It will provide you with energy, but you might as well have whole grain pasta. (high in fibre) Pasta is definately not something I recommend to someone looking to lean up. (even whole grain pasta)
Protein builds muscles. Carbohydrates do NOT. Carbohydrates simply give you the energy you need to workout. Also, they will keep your metabolism in check. (But only if you are eating the RIGHT carbs)
Here is a piece of advice. Go to the closest book store, and buy a book called "The Abs Diet" It is great for beginners, and will tell you all about the foods you need to focus on and WHY. Also, it will tell you what foods to avoid and why. Also, it will convert you from a person that is seriously lacking in the 'nutritional information' department, into a person who will be confident in making his own meal choices.
