People like this, although good hearted, just don't listen to anyone until they are proven wrong. I had a friend who I tried to steer in the right direction trying my best to help him make better decissions in his work life and personal life. He would nev er listen and now he is unemployed, drunk and his girlfriend took his kid away. I washed my hands of him as did the rest of his friends. Maybe a little tough love is in order. Tell him if he isn;t going to listen to you, the voice of reason, that you are not going to watch him destroy his health and life. And when he comes to his senses tell him he knows where you will be. Sometimes we try to stand by our friends when we know they are doing the wrong thing. All we do is become an enabler. Its a tough call.
