I really would not worry too much. Like I said, if it was the police you probably would already know. If you get rid of it and it was the polie they still will know they delivered it to you. If they come, just say you didn.t know what it was, how it got sent you but what you do know is its not yours. Just leave it on the counter, don't hide it yet. They have to prove it is yours to really have a case. If they don't come knocking then go forward with your cycle in a few days.
