Did I Become A Man Today?
Today I deadlifted for the first time. It felt kind of awkard at first, but I liked it. I've got some nice soreness in my back right now. On Friday I also plan to squat for the first time.
These new additions come as a result of a new split I'm trying. I previously did, for the most part, the same total body workout every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Now I'm doing a chest:tri, back:bi:shoulder, leg split. I'm trying to get over a mental complex though. I keep worrying that I'm going to start shrinking any second because I'm only working each group once a week. This wouldn't happen, would it? Here's the details.
Mon: Chest, Triceps
Dumbell Flat Bench: 3x5, then 4th set to failure
Dumbell Incline: 2x5, then 3rd set to failure
Cable Crossovers: Pretty much just run through the stack here, going to failure, dropping a plate, then going to failure again, all the way to the top of the stack.
Close-Grip Bench: 3x5, 4th to failure
Dips: 2 x failure
Pushdowns: Run through the stack, same as crossovers.
Wed: Back, Biceps, Shoulders
Deads: 3x5, 4th to failure
Lat Pulldowns: 2x5, 3rd to failure
Rows: Run the stack
Preacher Curl: 3x5, 4th to failure
Hammer Curls: 2x5, 3rd to failure
Concentration Curls: Run the rack
Shrugs: Run the rack
Fri: Legs
Haven't worked this one out yet. I'll put something together when I get there.
Now I'm assuming this is enough work per week for each muscle group to promote some growth? I plateaued a couple months ago on my old program. I'm 19, 6 foot 3, and 175 pounds, so I know there's plenty of growth left in me.
