I understand not wanting muscles like a man but a toned body will help your appearance. It takes dedication to nutrition (not dieting) and reasonable exersize. You can't be sedentary and have issues with not controlling food intake. I mentioned proper nutrition over diet. Diets don't work for long as they are a temporary fix to a long term problem. They treat a symptom not the true issue. Learning what to eat and when to eat is what will help you. It won't happen over night but if you are dedicated you will prevail.
I would also suggest you get a complete physical to include blood work. You should have your thyroid levels checked to see where you are. I would suggest knowing what the normal range is when you get the results back and don't just let the doctor tell you are "within normal range" if you are boarderling hypothyroid. Adjusting thyroid levels is easily done with medication (T3 and T4) and it has a huge effect on you metabolism. I know this from experience not from what I read somewhere.
