Losing weight with more frequent meal is counterintuitive, but it absolutely works!! Small meals does just what Florida said, it keeps your inner fire (metabolism) churning. That's how your body burns fat. Gotta keep stoking the fire with small amounts of food instead of piling on an evening meal like an armful of leaves on a smoldering fire. It will just sit there and smoke all night and never actually burn. Also, smaller meals will shrink your stomach which will reduce your belly size. Good ab exercises will help tighten your core which will also tighten your waistline.
