basic bodybuilding food made easy
Hey,
Tired of heavy brown rice that tastes like crap. Here the solution.
Buy a bag at the store. When you get home, heat up a clean (no pam/no oil) dry skillet. Pour in the rice. In a bit it will start smells toasted and make snap, crackle and popping noise. Stir it around often so it doesn't scorch. Medium heat for the burner is about right. If all the rice is toasted and smells toasted it's done.
Here the easy part. Preheat the oven to 350. In the dish put two cups of toasted brown rice and three cups of any liquid--two of which should be water. Bake for one hour, if you use a clear pyrex dish you can see when all the water had been absorbed by the rice. Should take about an hour. After removing from oven let stand about 10 minutes, remove lid and stir around.
I have used combos of water and hot salsa. Tomato juice and basil with water. You can added minced garlic to the rice before cooking; I have added defrosted frozen vegetables, leftover chunks of steak, onions etc.
IF you use three cups of water it makes plain rice that you can throw in a bowl, pour some protein shake over it and eat like cereal.
