Hi all, New to the boards here. Great site!!!
I could really use some advice. I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome this past month. I’m lead to believe that my summer diet led to this. My diet consisted mainly of Chicken, Steak, eggs, oatmeal, shredded wheat and broccoli during the week with carb loading on Sundays. I did this May – June and dropped all carbs except oatmeal and broccoli in August to get shredded for a photo shoot. I included flax seed oil, peanut butter and Metamucil in the diet every day. The diet worked, I got shredded and looked great, I was in the best shape in my life BUT during the last few weeks in august I started to feel a bit sick, got constipated and came down with other complications that sent me to my doctor. I was told that I have IBS and that I would need to avoid most vegetables, whole wheat products, oatmeal and that I would have to stick to eating refined foods such as white rice, white bread and special-K because they are easier to digest!!!!!
I just about died when I heard this. This goes against everything I’ve done for the last 15 years of my life. Anyway, I’m back on my bulking diet, I’ve added back my carbs, mainly brown rice, potatoes and pasta. I have been staying away from vegetables and eating only leafy green salads. Things are returning to normal and I’m feeling much better now.
Sorry to make this so winded but I guess my question is what did I do wrong to bring on IBS? Did I cut out carbs for way to long? Not enough fat or perhaps I just have trouble digesting veggies and should stay away from them. I’m generally carb sensitive which is why I cut them out completely in August to get ripped.
I guess I should mention that I was running Winney tabs, Tren, EQ, propionate, Clen and T3 while on this diet.
Would appreciate any info and what guys with IBS are eating to prevent problems especially when dieting to get ripped.
Pete
