The idea that people are talking about when they say you should not be trying to use steroids to lose wieght is that even though it will help you to some extent, you can easily lose weight without them. The cost benefit ration of using steroids like that is not so good. You're not going to build much muscle, even on steroids, if you are hypocaloric. You're not going to lose fat if you are not.

Building muscle is a little different because it takes a long time to build muscle. The cost benefit ratio is much better.

I hope this clears things up for you. In the end it is your body and you have to decide what price you are willing to pay.
