4 min abs !!!

think about it....4 min abs !!!!! ha, what do you guys think is the best ab workout... is it better to do exercises that you use weight with, or by going the more aerobic route ??? In ur opinion.

Depends on whether youre trying to lose fat, or build a 6 pack.

whats best for each way?.. usually all i do is bicycle crunches for about 10min a day

I am not a fan of weights with ab exercises. You don't necessarily want to build up your abs. A lean waist is what we all want.

Actually, I do want to build up my abs because I do Muay Thai in ******** and let me tell you that a kick in the midsection is quite a motivation for a strong abdomen. I know I am the exception here and should admit that traditionally I absolutely hate ab exercises but for the sake of argument, what should one do to be as tight and strong as far as abs go? I run with sprints, do sit ups, jump rope, kick and hit pads, and spar as it is...am I hijacking the thread?

hey bro, i train mma too.

here are some ab workouts i do..

lay down on the ground and have a partner drop a 20lbs medicine ball on your abs. keep them tense and let them bounce off. it sucks at first but youll get used to it. be sure to breathe out when the ball hits. it'll mimics getting a stomach shot in a fight. once the ball hits, throw it back up to your partner immediately and do it 25 times. i usually do 5 sets of 25.

then jump into bicycle crunches for 4 minutes.

i agree with fcpjc about the medicine ball drops after you get good at those you can have a partner strike you in the abdomen with a kali stick or fist lightly a first and then increase intensity this forces the abs to fire individually when struck as they would in a fight, just make sure you partner isnt a moron who will break your ribs, also doing standing crunches works the abs in the same plane as you are when your fighting(at least some of the time). do them with a cable forwards and to the obliques. unfortunately a strong stomach isnt always the super narrow typical body builder waist but it gives you extra motivation to do more delt and back work

Thanks guys those are great ideas, lucky for me my training partners are cool and all much more experienced than me, not trying to prove how tough they are by hurting me or anyone else so I'll add those right in.

Lots of good advice here. Being m,ore into bodybuilding I prefer more aerobic activity and simple crunches.
I have to say I hate Cardio though and training abs.....just sayin.
