old man newbie – how quickly does water retention start?

Hello, I am 50, 5’9”, weight 160. Not a bodybuilder but have been doing Cross Fit for 2 years. I got an HRT cycle of cyp with anastrozole, clomiphene, and HCG. The shop told me to take the anastrozole every Mon., Wed, and Fri. starting 2 weeks after the first t injection. So far so good.

I did the 1st injection of t Wednesday 3/26. That went fine, first time in my life I injected myself. Here it is Saturday night only 72 hours later: my watch, for years loose on my wrist, is snug. My pants are tight in the thighs and waist. That’s new too. Generally I feel roly-poly. This has to be water, right? Is it possible for t to aromatize to estrogen that fast? Should I start taking the anastrozole now rather than waiting 2 weeks?

I see a lot of sensitive posters here screaming at people for their stupid questions so let me say that I searched the site for the words ‘water retention,’ ‘anastrozole,’ and ‘aromatization’ but didn’t find info about how quickly t can aromatize so if I missed my answer, I apologize for offending you.

I will phone the shop Monday to ask this same question but also wanted to post it here and get a wider perspective. Thanks for your time.

P.S. FYI the cycle is 200mg cyp IM 1x/week for 10 weeks. The anastrozole is 1mg per cap.

bout 2 weeks....4 weeks sets in strong....if you use creatine, from day 1 on and builds up.

Must ask...why bother doing this at all if you aren't a body builder out of curiosity...you are busting into some hefty stuff....

No creatine. So, water retention in 4 weeks not 72 hours? I wonder what is going on then.

No Problem... Reason being...you dont win megabucks on the first night (for the most part...) reason I use that analogy is you have about the same odds of hitting those as you have of hitting water retention in full force from that shiz on first day.... it all depends on body type, diet etc...you know the goods....anyways...


If that is what you are looking for creatine will get you good on water retention...its cheaper...your ass won't be sore...and if thats all you are looking for then just buy creatine.... if you are looking for something else then say what you are looking for and we can better answer you on the subject.

It could be some water retention but I would not be overly concerned with it. Unless you have itchy or swolen nips I don't think aromatization is the issue so I would hold off on the anastrozole. I assume you are on HRT with that type of test dose.

I started a cycle of test cyp and tren a two weeks ago. I noticed some weight gain in just a few days which I would attribute to mostly water retention.

HCG can cause water retention, and cause estro side effects.
I usually start feeling bloated in my first week of test cyp

Yes, a Rx for HRT but I won't mind if it helps me work out harder/longer/heavier. Looks like 200mg/week is not much, though. I'm into alpine mountaineering (not rock climbing: remote peaks, glaciers, several days above treeline) and hope to improve work capacity and recovery time too.

I can tell you from experience that the performance edge you will recieve from good ole cyp will far outweigh any additional water you are lugging around. And if you were deficient, those receptors were just begging for that first bump. Dont worry about it, you'l be fine. In about five weeks youl be a new man. LITERALLY!
