Just started trt, plz help!

hey guys, i know a few of you guys out there have a wealth of knowledge about TRT(yeah you florida and hazcat!lol) antwho, the doc was gonna start me on testim, insurance would not cover it, and i could not afford it, so i ended up with androgel. i am perscribed the minimum does(i think it is 5gams daily) and i beleive he went with the minumum dose to begin with to see if it would help my level at all(have to take a blood test two weeks before my next appointment) and at the appointment i'm sure he will adjust the dosage. anyways, my previous score was very low...the free T level if memory serves me correctly was either 9, or 11!!! so yeah it was low. my question is this....how can i pesuade him to switch me over to the injections(we talked about it during my first appointment, and he is willing to go that route i beleive, because i told him i was a student and money was an issue although i do have insurance. he asked me if i lifted weights because he could oviously tell i did, and i did not want to come across as a drug seeker who wanted the injections(i assumed most normal people would opt for a gel rather than taking an injection so i tried to play it off that way the first appointment,a nd also played dumb!) he asked me if i had ever used anabolics and of course i said no, and he responed with well, if you had answered yes, i would never perscribe them to you(ithink he was talking about the injections) anyways i thought about calling the doctors office and telling them the androgel was causing a rash(in hopes they call in T cyp to the pharmacy) or should i wait the 6 weeks till the blood test, discontinue the gel a week before(thus hopefully causing my levels to stay low) i would just hate to waste more time, and him increasing the dose 2 or three times, before inevitablely they start giving me the test cyp. also if anyone knows could ya tell me the difference between the testim and the androgel? i noticed in the info that came with the testim it mention increased muscle mass, and decrease of bodyfat, but saw nothing of that nature in the info that came with the androgel....actaully just saw a bunch of stuff that lead me to beleive it is way more androgenic than anabolic. but anyways guys, plz give me your opinion as to how i can get doc to swith me from the gel to the injection.any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks, oh and p.s. i didn't know about mentioning these drugs by name, so if i broke a rule i am sorry, i assumed it would be acceptable since i am prescibed to it. thanks,

I would wait until the next visit. If you want to still come in low then dropping it about 1.5 to 2 weeks before blood work will show a drop. I would bet you will be low even if you just ran it all the way through. I would just tell the doc the gel isn't convenient and ask him if you could try weekly injections as that would fit your lifestyle better. You have already overcome the biggest obsticle by finding a doc that will prescribe test. The issue of whether you workout or not should be irrelevant. Maintaining muscle size, tone and strength is part of trt.

My son got hair on his scrotum at the age of 5 when I was on androgel. I sweat a lot and that got me a script for injects real quick.

well ok then i will lower the dose just a week or so before i take the blood tests. if i still show low, do you think he will A: just bump up the dose of androgel, or B: switch me to the injections? so i should tell him that the gel is making me sweat a lot? is that a side effect of the gel, that isn't with the injections? yeah, i was amazed that he didn't even hesitate to put me on TRT given my age....26, it was a eurologist, rather than an endocrinologis(spelled wrong) i hear the eurologists are more liberal with it. anything else i should tell him, such as a rash, but then again he will want to see evidence of it..yeah florida i guess you're right just tell him it would suite my lifestyle better, and also i could let him know i really can't afford the gel(which i can) but he told me the injects are cheaper. oh and hazcat.... could you tell the androgel helped you out at all as far as the anabolic part of it? seems after reading over the packet the androgel is much more androgenic.....and i don't wanna lose anymore hair! lol anyways let me know if ya don't mind.... and thanks so much for the input!

It's really hard for any of us to guess what your doctor is going to say or do. All we can give is our experiences and how it helped us. For example, cutting back on the gel before getting your bloodwork should help, but there's no guarantee that's going to convince your doctor to go the injection route. In my case, my bloodwork clearly showed I was a candidate for TRT, and my doctor also wanted to prescribe a gel. The problem is, if you use a gel, there's really no way you can be accurate as to how much Test your body will be absorbing. With measured doses rhrough a syringe, you know exactly how much you're putting into your body and will be better able to control what's right for you. Go in with that kind of argument and you might stand a better chance. I also asked my doctor to do the first injection to show me how it's done. Made him feel in control before he sent me on my merry way.

It wasn't the sweating that got me injects it was passing the androgel during play onto my 5 y.o. son that got the injects.
