Default Deciding on Steroids...

Hi,

Firstly, thank you very much for looking...

I'm a basketball player recovering from an injury (cartilage tear in the knee). I lost a lot of strength and power in the year and a half I've been out. I'm looking to go out to America (possibly Canada) to play basketball as soon as possible and have come to the decision that steroids could very well be the best option for me.

I'm 5'11" and 75KG. I eat pretty well, (excluding fruit etc) Chicken and some kind of Carb before and after the gym, then generally in the meals throughout the day. I use Creatine while at the gym, and I go 3 times a week. At the moment I'll be staying off my knee exercise wise, due to having the operation only 2 weeks ago.

What I'm looking at mostly is Winstrol, from what I've read, it seams relatively safe but with decent gains. Also, I may have miss-interpreted some of what I've read, but it seems to be good for joints (my knee is what I had in mind).

I'm looking to use steroids just until I reach certain goals, I don't want to get too big, as I could easily lose the typical basketball physique. And for me, I want to be as strong as possible but keep my weight down for whatever extra vertical leap can be gained from doing so. To give you a rough idea, I'd like to lift roughly 80-100Kg on a bench press by the february coming, and I'm around 45Kg now.

Also, I have a problem with my nervous system that means I can have seizures. Not randomly, but sometimes when I am hurt (e.g. broken collar bone) or if someone wants to put a needle in me. So injectables are well out of the question.

So, after the essay above (sorry), here are my questions:

1) Do you feel there could be a better steroid for me to be taking? If so, please suggest what and why.

2) What is the maximum dosage I can take in a 6 week cycle of Winstrol, and is there a certain way I should do it e.g. with a meal, or just before a gym session?

3) What side effects (ANY at all) should I expect from short usage (3, maybe 5 months maximum), and can I combat these with anything? I do know about liver damage.

4) As above, I do know about liver damage, and was wondering if this could be stopped with some kind of liver care product?

I think I've covered myself with my questions, but if you have anything you want to throw in or ask me, then please feel free, as I would like to get the most out of your community here, and obviously my gains as an athlete.

First thing I suggest is you run any steroid use by your doctor. You seem to have a serious medical condition here.

Hi there Alex

Given the information you just provided us with I can totally assure you that AAS is not the way to go. From what I gather it seems that you choosing the AAS route as a way to almost speed up your recovery, increase your strength and put you in the same physical condition you were prior to your injury.

The addition of AAS at this point in time may do more harm than good. Yes, running compounds like winstril will definately increase your strength and promote muscle growth, but by going this route you are running the risk of further complicating your existing injuries which may end your aspirations of having a successful basketball career altogther. From what it sounds like, given the fact that you have stated that your current bench press is around the 45kg (95lbs) mark, you have by no means exhausted your body's natural ability. Your tendons, muscles and ligaments are definately not developed enough to support the spikes in strength that you will experience from running an AAS compound and, as i have previously states, you run the risk of causing some serious injury which may impede all chances of your ever having the physical capabilities of being a basketball player.


What i do recommend, hwoever, is that you put together a proper nutrion and training regiment together (which us here at IS will be more than happy to help u with) and continue to nurse that injury. At the moment, there are serveral OTC products such as creatine, glutamine, BCAA's that will significantly improve your current body composition.

I have an appointment booked for this Thursday, but thanks for your concern and advice. It's not as serious as it seems, I've had many many tests run with no clear diagnosis. It just makes injectables a no.

I understand your concern, and I had taken these things into consideration. What I did not realise is how severe the stress on ligaments tendons etc would be. So thanks for the warning.

This is where I'm annoying and ask something slightly repetitive as I am desperate to make gains as quickly as possible. Would it not be possible to use something weaker, such as Anavar just to make things a little faster and easier?

In 3 months I plan to start a program "Air Alert" (you may have heard of it) dedicated to my legs (jumping muscles), at this point I will have started skills training again. Training and working out can be very difficult, especially when I need gains as quickly as possible. So I was hoping to make this a little "easier" as it were.

Can you not advise anything past creatine type substances to speed things up for me?

If there is nothing I can do other than to improve my diet, then I can accept that, and I will take you up on the offer of helping me with a diet plan. (as you are a moderator) Should I start a new thread for this, or add to this one?

To be frank with you Alex, anavar is a very expensive substance to use and is only really effective when used in combination with highly anabllic/androgenic compunds. Unless you rinning the var in considerably high dosages it would be more effective spending your money on some high protein foods, some decent creatine, glutamine and BCAA's. Anavar is not going to much difference unless its stacked with someting else.

Making gains as quick as possible especially after a injury is very dangerous in regard of reinjuring the knee or creating a new injury. Your body takes time to gain cuz its the natural way and after an injury it is best to go the natural route. Plus when you start working out again you will gain quick especially with a good diet.
