they can be used to measure gains and loses but over all calipers are the best bet. The scale and the hand held version work off electro impediance. Under the concept that fat is a better insulater than muscle. They have a variance of up to 6% Like staed earlier. Hydroastaic weighing is the best with only a .35 % variance. But calipers are much more economical and can be bought off ebay. Ebay can get you into 2% variance. Water weight will be youy worst enemy in all of these. Persoanly i like the hand held version. The tighter i grab it the lower my bfp goes. LOL so if i need a self asteam boost i know what to do . . . . . .
