Multiple replies, I'm still reading...LOL. I also have my own two cents to throw in about the US world view too. We have gone down hill in how we are viewed by the world and for reasons that the vast majority of you would have never imagined. Believe it or not, the US goverment had policies and programs for broadcasting what we believe in to the world and at one time we were revered for our beliefs, but that was cut out and now we are hated.

Yes, now, I do believe that some dictatorships do work if the people are treated respectively and are treated right and the power that the dictator is not abused. But obviously in this case it was, now weather or not we find WMD is another story. It was a bs charge to use to take Saddam down, but it worked. The man had been breaking rules for too long and been in-humane to thousands far too long.


Now the question is now, now that Saddam is gone, and their is civil conflict between the rival tribsmen of the country... is the to be decades of civil unrest or will there be a quick resolution with the aid of the UN and US as 'world police'?

and

Shall the UN and US along with the backing of Tony Blair/George Bush Jr hand in hand go on to solve the rest of the worlds civil unjustices, starting with those in the middle east then moving onward to those in South Korea and their nucleaur facilities??

I have to agree with you here. We have some serious domestic issues that need addressing. I think we should choose our future battles very carefully. I'd like to see us go to war on unemployment, homelessness, famine, disease, etc., right on our own shores for starters.

Spook, that was a long post. lol. Also, in reference to your follow up post, it is clear that (to many) the U.S. is the "Evil Empire". I'm still convinced that this world would be a worse place without the U.S. I would hate to think what this world would be like without us.

BK.... you do not know how true that is about other view us as the 'Evil Empire'. The favorite thing that alot of British people like to talk to you about is Politics, especially since the Iraqi war has just broken/finished. And their primary target...George W. Bush Jr.... their favorite thing to compare him to... his father. It never fails. It does not matter how many British people I meet in a bar, the first thing they want to talk about is American politics and how America is the slop hole of the world with its drug problems, health problems (obescity and anarexia), and debt (financial situation) and how we can afford to be act as the 'goodie too shoes' of the world when we can not even solve our own problems.

Well, I think that the political machine had to be thrown over, and that they've had many chances to change there ways, I also think that it really was just action based on retaliation to the 9/11 attacks. They used your own planes because they don't have weapons of mass destruction. None were found, and still have yet to be found.

Do I stand by my southern allies? 100%. My dumb ass prime minister don't know what he was saying. We had an air craft carrier over there helpin out, plus all of our peace keepers. They weren't toolin around with the the USA, but they sure as hell didn't stop 'em from reaching their goals.

That being said, I hate war. Couldn't we just arm wrestle?? Or better yet, a pose down!!

Remember, just like here, there political leaders make the decisions, not us, no matter what we think. A few leaders in power (and keep in mind its not elective, and even if it is, its still very fixable) make the decisions. Don't hate people from Iran or Iraq. I have 2 very very close friends here from Iraq. They are fantastic, well educated, kind and generous people that have not a single bad bone in there bodies. They hated the political structure, and came here where life is better in many ways in that regard.

Ok ok, i got off topic a little, but war sucks, and I don't think in this matter it was the LAST resort.

In Iraq when they have been catching some of these guerilla fighters, the citizens has been pinpointing some of them as loyal party members of Sadam's former government and several people have been identified as people released from prisons at the outset of the war and armed by Hussein's regime.
