Oh, sorry about hijacking the thread on the BBN thing. And X, they WERE forced into slavery, but they were sold to the West and other nations by conquering tribes. As far as dB's question on "******" being and accepted word, I probably missed the mark on what I had said. I think the better definition is that in some places it was more tolerated than accepted.
