comin down a sidestreet, one way. van in front of me came to a stop to parallel park. i stopped.

look up in the mirror. 3 high school kids in a 99 Sentra.

i asked my son if he was ok (he had the same reaction i did, just not the same wording). they were probably going 25-30 mph.

oh well. insurance will take care of it if i can get ahold of a human at state farm.

kid was driving his mother's car. busted up the grille and that was it. when i was copying his insurance info, i saw that he lives on my block.

bumper mounts are pretty much fubar. bumper is sitting on my tail pipe. better not be any internal trunk damage trunk opens/closes fine.

new bumper and i should be all set.

just took my last final today and was looking forward to a few weeks off. now i gotta get my car fixed. i better get a rental car

when i got out of the car, i expected to see my entire trunk caved in. when it wasn't, i was pretty relieved. the kids in the car were flippin out and i know the expected me to be pissed. i was real nice to them though. we made sure each other was ok, and this kid was apologizing left and right, to which i said "hey man, shit happens. i'll take it to insurance, get it fixed, we're all set. don't worry about it."

i really did think they expected me to flip out. i heard them getting back in the car saying "wow! that guy was really cool about the whole thing! he wasn't even pissed!"

i know where the kid lives....about 6 houses down from me. insurance claim better go through without a hitch and he better be honest....or else.....

Sorry about your car, Crak600. Hopefully all goes well. I'd definitely run it by a mechanic just to be sure there's not damage done besides the visible (i.e. your exhaust being bent or pushed). Check all angles before you place the claim.

i've given it a good once over, but i'll probably back it up onto my ramps and get under to make sure nothing is fubar.

the bumper is sitting on the exhaust pipe. thankfully the semester is over, the highs are only in the mid-40s, and i don't have to travel anywhere for at least a week. otherwise i'd have some burnt bumper on my tail pipe. maybe, i dunno. dunno how heat resistant they are.

yeah, we're cool. me and him were discussing it this evening with mom. i asked him what happened, he says "a green car hit us. it went BOOM!" he was amused. he was real good too. stayed in his seat like i asked him too. he was real calm.

when he wsa almost 2, me, him, and my gf were on an emergency trip to Detroit (500 mile drive) because my aunt had died. we were cruising along I-80 about 75mph when a deer came out of nowhere. i had no time to react, so i plowed that sucker. him and my gf were asleep. she woke up to find out she couldn't see out of the windsheild. the hood had come loose and flew up, wrapping itself over onto the roof.

Ryan slept through the whole thing.

we continued the drive as we were less than 200 miles into it. then drove the car back home a few days later. it was interesting to say the least.
