There are great learning guides out there that combine print and onscreen tutorials. Maybe your work would spring for something like that if the current training seems insufficient or ineffective?

well I have a programmer that spends very little time with me, and I think he is teaching me just enough to be dangerous. protecting his own job. or atleast I think that is how he feels, lord knows I will never be a threat to him. but he is a little on the insecure side

I'll let you in on something: he's enjoying watching you sweat. It's a source of amusement for him.

lol thanks I am sure he is. so far I have noticed little changes to my computer, some programs wont open or aren recognized. plus he has it set up so if I need help I can contact him and he can take over the computer, this would have bothere me a month ago, but I dont know how long he has had it like this either

Actually, using PCanywhere or a like program for support is fairly commonplace: the reason being is that it's less time consuming for an IT professional to fix a problem themselves than it is for them to talk a novice user through the solution. Just a matter of efficiency most likely...probably no ulterior motive.

There are ways to find this out for yourself with keystroke commands, but I'll make life easy for ya:

Click on Start and select Run.
Type cmd then click OK.
From the Command Prompt, type ipconfig and hit enter
