US Rep. Patrick Kennedy in traffic accident on Capital Hill....LOL

He got out of his car after colliding into a barricade, staggered around and the uniformed officer that he nearly hit was going to detain him, but he was prevented from detaining him and was not allowed to give Kennedy a sobriety test. Kennedy said he was in a rush to get to the House for a vote, but the House of Representatives adjourned 3 hours prior.

Shame he wasn't driving over the Chappaquidic alone.

WASHINGTON - Rep. Patrick Kennedy (news, bio, voting record) said Friday he was entering treatment for addiction to prescription pain drugs after a middle-of-the-night car crash near the Capitol that he said he had no memory of. "That's not how I want to live my life," he declared.



Kennedy, D-R.I., the son of Massachusetts Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (news, bio, voting record), said he would seek immediate treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

His one-car accident about 3 a.m. Thursday was the talk of the capital, with police saying he appeared to be intoxicated but Kennedy saying later that day that he had had nothing to drink.

For Kennedy, who said he has suffered from depression and pain-medication addiction for years, the trip to the Mayo Clinic was his second in less than five months. He went there over Christmas and said he returned to Congress "reinvigorated and healthy."

The capital hill cops were told by their supervisors to not even administer a sobriety or breathalyzer test and the higher level police supervisors drove him home. He used the voting immunity clause when he said he had to get to capital hill for a vote which is allowed to waive arrest. Anyone else like Rat said, would be in jail.

It would appear Mr. Kennedy has been hanging out with Mr. Rush Hudson Limbaugh III AKA the Duke of Darvocet AKA the Captain of Codeine.

Honestly, the whole thing stinks. We all know he was under the influence when the accident occured. The only more obvious sign of being under the influence is shooting your buddy in the face while hunting.
