I'm back! My sister took me to Key West! We ate sinful foods and drank too much and I got on the scale and put on 7 lbs. GRRRRRRR. The clothing optional rooftop bar last night was a blast though. They had a body-painter there and I saw some good stuff!

Eh...back to reality...my daughter is texting me asking me to pick her up from her friend's house. Work is calling...I'll be back later when I can.

your absence for so long is only acceptable if you have pictures to share w/ us.....phew glad you're back...missed ya sweetie!

and don't worry...that's just water from the drinking..you'll be rid of it in a couple of days

I took a few pics on my phone's camera but I know they're gonna be awful. I had no idea where we were going and I didn't pack a camera. I need a little more notice to pack right. LOL

We went to a butterfly garden...OMG they were spectacular! Butterflies are the only insects I'm not afraid of and I loved my visit there. I will definitely visit there when we go back.

My sister's been going to the Keys for 15+ yrs. and she has a timeshare there we'll be using in July. Although I've lived in FL for about 18 yrs. this was my first trip to the Keys. It's sooo laid back and casual.

At one of the piers there is a daily sunset show with street performers. Shops and bars are open all day and night. We spent some time in an Irish pub place last night and the guy on stage with his guitar got the audience involved often...lots of fun.

The pool at the hotel was really nice. One shallow end and two deeper ends, kinda shaped like a clover leaf with a rock waterfall inbetween the two deeper ends and lots of palms bent over the pool providing shade. The pool had floaties provided so that's what I did for a while each day.

The hotel had a pool bar and a very good restarant where you could eat outside on the patio or right by the pool. Sunday's brunch was really good and I really induldged with eggs benny served on a crabcake. Monday morning we ate at a place that made a shrimp and crab omlet right by the dock...yummy!

We walked a lot, danced a little, shopped some, and spent lots of time just catching up. My sister and I are really only half sisters, we share the same father, but we didn't get close until he died a few yrs. ago. She is the sister I always wanted and more but never had. We're SO much alike and I see so much of my father in her. She planned this vacation for me for months. I'm so blessed to have her in my life.

We visited a lot of landmarks. We went to the Southernmost House in the continental US, we saw Hemmingway's house which he left to his cats who now rule the premisses, and my sister explained the square decks on top of houses which were called Widdow's Walks...the women would walk up on them waiting to see if their husband's ships were coming back from sea, many of the men never made it back. There are a lot of other places I want to visit when we go back in July and we want to rent the speed boats.



My sister is visiting other friends here in Tampa, then going back to the Keys for a few days, then back here on Sat. in time for my b-day party. I'm looking forward to the rest of this week, my b-day and Mother's Day!

It was very cool. The rooftop deck was dark enough to let people feel less self conscious but light enough to see. There were people ranging in age from their 20's into their 60's. They had a tv screen going showing the bodypainting that had been done in the past...some very awesome work! I was getting tempted to do it myself but chickened out. Maybe next time.
