Went out Saturday for some trail crawling. On my way back out I stopped to piss in the woods and noticed the busted shock mount

At first I was really pissed off when I broke the shock mount. Then this morning when I got a chance to crawl under and look at said mount I got even more pissed off because I saw how flimsy this shit is.

Looks like a new one will need to be welded in instead of using an OEM flimsy ass replacement one.

Got a little dirty, especially when I got into a mud/water hole that was just over 3' deep :eek3: 4low pulled me out :x: I could've gotten a lot dirtier but I was trail crawling, not really looking for mud. It rained a bit too and washed some of the mud off

Then, I'm coming down this one trail to get back to the road and I'm going 10-15mph because it was pretty smooth. All of the sudden....

WHAM!

There were telephone poles alongside the trail and there was a cable attached to the ground that ran across the trail. I busted the visor over the windsheild off and snapped one of the passenger mirror mounts

Well, welding in new shock mounts is pretty cheap, just a matter of getting a friend to do it for me. Plus I'll have him look at all the welds currently on the Jeep and see if he wants to redo any.

I'd eventually like to pull the engine and rebuild it. Stroker kits are pretty cheap and I can make it a 4.6L with a 0.030" overbore. More tq in the lower rpms and more hp.

There's a lot I want to do with this thing because it's in good shape, just a matter of $$$$$.

Yeah, at least until I find all the weak points on this thing and fix them. I know things are going to break but as they do I can replace them with good solid parts and not have to worry about it for a long time (hopefully).

The Jeep wasn't intended to be a DD but instead a weekend toy. I should be getting the Civic out of the shop today after I smashed it up a bit a few weeks ago. This 15mpg out of the Jeep (at best) is killing me. I need my 30+ mpg and quality stereo again.
