Kidney Stones from hell

Back a few years ago I had a kidney stone that cut off the flow of urine from my left kidney. I waited too long to go to the ER and almost lost my kidney because it wanted to shut down. Today, I go to the bathroom and am passing a lot of blood when I pee. I've never pee'd blood before so I'm freaking out. There was no pain or discomfort whatsoever, but I was still freaking out. I went to Urgent Care and the doctor told me I had a bladder infection and he didn't think it was a stone. This doctor is a quack and I won't be seeing him again. An hour after I left his office, I was about to barf from the pain in my side, back, and shooting down my abdomen. I then went to the ER. Anytime I get sick, I'm going to this ER all the time. They've improved, all the ER cubicles are private now and not just seperated by a curtain and everyone was as kind and helpful as they could be. While laying there waiting to be taken back for a CT Scan the pain in the side started subsiding. Turned on the cable (yeah, each ER cubicle has cable....SWEET!), and relaxed. I got the CT Scan and they said I had just passed the stone judging from the dilation and the bleeding was slowing down alot. On a bummer note, they said I had alot of stones in the kidney waiting to be passed over the next few years. I guess there is no better time than the present to become a percocet junky and just wait for it.

Heard. A few years ago I had a stone that blocked one of the vessels between the kidney and bladder. My midsection felt like it was going to explode, puking bile, on the floor in a fetal position - more constant pain than I have ever felt before for probably 4-5 hours. Morphine wasn't doing shit to quell it. Finally, after 3-4 bags of saline, it passed and it was like nothing was ever wrong. Thing was the size of a grain of sand. I was a Coke (cola) junkie back then, and drank a lot of milk. Now its just water for me.

Can't they use sound waves or something to bust the remaining stones up? I've heard of something like that.

Your close it's called Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy. Basically you lay in a tub of water while shock waves that are created outside the body travel through the skin and body tissues until they hit the stones.
