Office politics suck...

I don't get the point. I mean it might be something else if there were something truly at stake and ppl were vying for something...but in general it just seems like its an evolution of high school mentality.

I've got a few coworkers I have concerns with trusting...

Ah, I understand perfectly, Iron.... got involved in a turf war at work this week. A certain manager thought he could stick his nose in my department.... which is the whole company...hehehehe.

I'm afraid he knows better now. Before he left my office, he made a rather rude comment loud enough for all the engineers to hear. Those that have known me for many years expected me to get up and hand him his ass.... I just let it slide.

I know what you mean. I'm interning for an engineering firm and there are guys in their late 40's early 50's that talk shit on each other and are cattier than 7th grade girls.

I was at Subway on Friday and was hit with a dose of reality. A year ago I was regularly filling in as the SNCO for my company of Marines. On Friday I was playing the roll of gopher and picking up lunch for the head engineer.

Its funny, Rex. You go from commanding a company of mercs one day, and your pushing a broom the next for minimum wage.

I was blessed in having made connections in the military industrial complex and turned those into a decent job. If you don't do something like that these days, your screwed.

It's a hard pill to swallow. Still is. The engineer, who I basicly shadow, told me not to stick around for a meeting with the construction manager (cm) because he might cuss and I haven't been in the field long enough to handle that. I then told him I was a Marine, and not am I only used to cussing, but might even make the cm blush with how salty is can be. I haven't been excluded since.

F*** Politics!!! I refused to play them, now I own my own company and I'm 100x better off for it. The douchebags at the job I left are still there beating each other up to kiss the boss's ass, and I'm making 3x what they are giving up their self respect for...JMO...

We were at some friends tonight for dinner and this topic actually came up. Fortunately I have been my own boss for some time now but I have several people working for me and cannot believe some of the shit that goes around the office/warehouse. Your right in the comparison to kids at school, it really is no different. These days though I am not there much so it's not such the worry it used to be.
