Interpreting what is written will depend upon the way that it is written. Some things will give you a clue that it is a parable, symbology, illiteration, or outright literal. Knowing the styles of writing helps alot too.

VICTARIVS FILII DEI also translates into latin as "in the place of God" or "Substitute for God." The greek equivalent for the same definition is "anticristos" (transliterated because I can't figure out how to put up the koine greek. These are just some things to think about.

I had heard of this reference of the Vicar of Christ before as well.

Spook is correct on the number system. That comes from the book "Two Babylons" by Alexander Hislop.

The hebrew word "mark" means whatever you put yourself to do. It makes a mark, so to speak.

When it talks about a mark upon the hand or in the forehead, it means whatever you put you hand, or mind to do. So, doing certain things, and thinking in a certain way is the actual "mark of the beast".

This is how I feel about it. Like I said I think the "chruch" or "we" are the beast.

Like Ive said before, I just try to be a good person morally, help my fellow man or woman and have faith that I am doing the right things in my worship.

It's all about me.......my religion that is.......I try to worry about MY relationship and how I interperate that and make desicions based on that.

Example: Is drinking a sin ? If you are the kind of person who can actually enjoy alcohol without extreme and you hurt no one else....have at it. But, if you are sitting nect to an alcoholic and intentionally drink and cause HIM (or her) to stumble and fall, then I believe you have sinned. The fact is, we are all our brother's keepers.
