^^^ I'm BEAT tonight!!!! I went back to work after 2.5 weeks of vacation! I was up at 0430 and out the door to train before pulling a 12hr shift then hitting the gym for a second round of cardio. At 1100 I NEEDED nap... I tell ya, I got myself spoiled for being off soo long. I'll probably be in bed in another hour! I'm tired.

Here's a story I cant pass up to not share..... Early this afternoon, I met the sweetest lady today. I was rounding on patients and a nurse asked me to take a peek in on a particular gal that needed a quick eval. I walked into the room to find a spry and fiesty woman to be as young as 101 years old and fixin to celebrate another b-day in just a few short days! This little lady was absolutely adorable with her heavy country accent that I just loved to listen to about her telling stories about growing up on her parents farm in Utopia, TX. Time seemed to stand still as she recounted memories of her upbringing and then meeting the man of her dreams and raising a family. I asked her what brought her to SA and she said just a few years ago she was not able to care for herself any longer so she moved from Houston to SA to live with her grandchildren! Believe it or not... this woman could still walk about and still take care of herself (in a limited capacity now). But she got me when she grabbed and held my hands (her fingers felt like icicles) for a moment while holding a nice firm grip... she said "oh my your hands are soo WAAAARM.... that's a sign that your in love my dear!!!" I smiled and nodded at her and couldnt help not to let out a chuckle all the while thinking to myself... no lady, that's just a sign I aint dead yet! Anyway, she made my day and at that moment I guess I was glad I was back at work.

Glad she cheered you up, Chiq.... I've got an aunt thats 99 this year... finally checked herself into a home as she was worried about falling.

Believe it or not.... I love old people (always have preferred to be around people alot older than me)! I'll admit, sometimes they are difficult to work with.... but the challenge is breaking down their tough exterior. And I do love a challenge, because you know when I finally find a weak spot to crawl through... these old birds are ALL softies with hearts of gold and they have soo many interesting stories and life experiences to share. Alot of times I'm amazed at the lives some of these people have lived.

Plus another reason I love old people is.... their BLUNT as hell and dont give a rats arse if "telling it like it is" will hurt peoples feelings! I love the no holds bar approach some of these old fogies have.... THESE PEOPLE HAVE BALLS yet are some of the sweetest, loving people ever.
