I almost walked into a banana spider & it's web one night when I lived in Jax. I came home after dark, and was walking around the palm in the front drive to go to the house.. the web started at the end of the palms and went up to the wire that came from the pole to the house, I happened to notice a reflection or shadow, whatever you want to call it and ducked just in time. But, that was the night I started walking with my hand out in front of me at arms length - always making sure I didn't walk through a web.

as far as I know they are just big and not really aggressive. I think they are kinda neat because I don't feel like they are gonna bite my head off.

They're also called, Golden silk orb-weavers.. they build huge webs..

Yes Dagar, it's real and it's just like the one I almost walked into face first.. those suckers are huge, but in the reality of nature.. they're an amazing creature.. and per wiki they're afraid of cockroaches, lol.
