Default Best option to give us a solid nights sleep?

    Tried:
    Xanax
    Stilnox / Ambien
    Pot
    Phenargen
    Valium / Diazepam

Obviously not all at once. I seem to build up tolerance very quickly, I was always told how strong Ambien/Stilnox were so was excited when I was prescribed them, problem is I have to keep going back every 14 tablets (limited) and I need 2, maybe even 3 for them to kick in properly.

I don't take these every night either only when I have the odd work shift that I need to get up at 4am and try to take something around 8-9pm to get a semi-decent sleep. Any other recommendations? Thanks!

I use to love them back in my binge days, i try to stay away from them now, especially since two of my mates have died from xanax

For me, thos drugs dont put me to sleep anyway. For me it dosent matter how tired my body is, its my mind that dosent shut off. So the best thing that works for me is keeping the mind occupied and exausted through the day.

Absolutely is. Jok3r you mentioned you build up a tolerance quickly as do many people. This is where the problem comes in. Just because it takes more of a drug to get the desired effect over time, it does not mean your body can handle a higher dose. Also, as we all understand here when it comes to steroids, all drugs have a certain half life. You keep adding to the dose you take, coupled with what is already in your system and eventually the amount of drug in your system becomes toxic and you overdose. When you add in other drugs this becomes an even more risky situation. Most people around my area (about 3-4 per week) overdose and die on xanax and oxy cocktails.

On a side note to this, I have seen the hearts of dozens of young (20-30 years old) OD victims that have abused pills for years that have severe heart disease or blocked coronary arteries. Most don't realize how harmful these drugs can be to the body.

For your sleep problems I agree with Dleato, you have to get your mind settled. The problem is you get restless mentally and your not able to either get to sleep or stay asleep. Find something that relaxes you, not just physically but mentally. Soothing music helps me as does reading a good book. I frequently use benadryl (diphenhydramine) before bed and it works almost as well as Ambien did when I took that. You could try kava kava as well. I suggest capsules over the tea. The tea smells like dirty socks.

Thats exactly rite. I use to start of by taking 4 valiums, the next time would be six, then 8 and well you get my point. The thing i hate about endone and valium is that i love the feeling of the effects, thats why i stay away from them.

A mate of mine is real bad when it comes to downers. he's been on repeated scripts since he was 16 and now at 26 he is dependant on these drugs. 10 valium wouldnt make him blink an eye. he will pop 6 endone at a time like there asprin and still be more than functional, and we dont understand how this guy is still alive.

A mate went to see him a few weeks back and he was knocking on the door for ages and there was no reply so he looked through the window and seen him passed out with his head on the computer keyboard, the screen just kept filling up with xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx etc since his head was just resting on the keys. my mate went in and woke him up and he just giggled about it...pretty damn sad if you ask me

i could have chosen the route to be put on sleeping tablets but i chose not to for phsical and menatl health reasons.

sleep can really mess with your head, but like FG stated in another thread, cure is better than treatment. you just have to find what works best for you.

Thanks for the replies! Think I need to just work on more stability in my life, am having a pretty stressful time this past year, issue after issue and not knowing what to do about it plus I'm now doing shift work which is why I need the tablets - theres no way I could manage a 8-9pm sleep to be up at 4am on my own.

Will give Benadryl with diphenhydramine a try, I got a repeat for Stilnox today so was browsing them while I waited but wasn't sure which key ingredient was needed as there are a few different types. I'm pretty positive that once I have everything in order (eg; work stable hours, lifting consistantly, no stress etc) that things will start to fall into place.

I make sure I don't take everything at once but main issues were anxiety and insomnia which REALLY pissed me off - its like dealing with people at work and getting anxious and thinking to yourself "WTF IS GOING ON???" lol :P I'll usually take 1-2mg Xanax before work and that does the trick and if I have an early morning start I'll take 2 Stilnox (Ambien) before bed but again, will try Benadryl to see if that helps more.

Thanks for the replies! And just to note I'm not getting dependant on anything which is good, I spoke with my Dr about it and explained there have just been some times I've needed it more than others, we both agreed I should be looking into a new line of work which I am anyway - some people adapt to shift work easily while others don't. Thanks again!

    man, you sound like me...lol

shift work is something i have to live with, its either that or a 5 day a week shitty job with F'all money.

The anxiety is a *****, i can help it with good food, training and sleep but it can also get triggered in a second from something catching me off gaurd like caffiene..or a fight haha

drinking is a big colperate for anxiety, and as much as the drugs may help they can effect you in the long run even worst.
