    Default Started "smoking" again.

Well i originaly quit smoking when i was 18, then started drinking. Now i quit drinking about 7 months ago but picked up smoking again. I'm worried that it might start to interfear with lifting and my life. Anyone here have a balanced life while smoking the green? Or should i just avoid it?

I can say from personal experience that when I was on the green, pretty much everything suffered as a result. I just lost that iron hard willpower I spent so long developing. I would still train, but at about 50% or less of intensity! The thing I find with weed is that it takes the "will" out of me evcen when I'm not stoned. Its a psychological thing, for me anyway, I was going to say weed changes my life, but I would have to say, "I allow weed to change my life", and not always for the better.
I would love nothing more than to blow ONE scoob at night before bed, ONE and ONE only, but I just cant seem to do that, One becomes two becomes three then becomes 50 bongs per day and I'm a fucking vegetable on the couch, which is not where I want to be.
I know people that can control it, use it occasionally or whatever, but for me I just cant seem to control myself with it. Ive played a lot over the years, done almost every damn rec drug I could get my hands on, except H, and I can take em or leave em, thankfully I left em long ago, but my "danger" drug has always been weed, I just cant control my use of it, I like it too much
Even if I could control my use of it, I think I would choose not to get into it again as the difference is night and day. Off the shit I am strong, motivated, focused, confident, have Iron hard willpower, clear headed and I'm out achieveing my goals. But on the shit, I lose all of that, especially confidence and willpower and I get slightly paranoid after awhile.
For me the difference is night and day and I choose not to choof anymore. If your at the stage now where you need to make a decision, I would say keep off it....and the drink. Try to find something else to fill your life. For me, its gym. Its the mental discipline of 6 days per week at the gym that I have filled my life with, rather than drugs or booze. If I stop training for a couple week's I usually start drinking, then get on the weed and I dont want to live the rest of my life like that, so I replace unhealthy addictions with a healthy one, ie gym. Its not so much the physical benefits I am seking now, its the psychological ones. Without the mental discipline I develop from training, I would be..... well to be honest I would probably either be dead or in gaol.
But thats just me, I'm obsessive about doing shit, either black or white, either 100mph or standing still........makes life pretty difficult at times lol

In my opinion it has no value.

I agree with Buf and danno on this. I smoked A LOT of weed when I was in HS into my early 20's. I may have smoked once or twice in the last 20 years. I really don't think it's worth the time or $, IMO. Some of my friends smoke and their seems to be no moderation with weed, don't really know why. People that I know are either fiends for it or not at all. I do drink socially and take oxy when I need it for my back, not recreational, but I don't mind the feeling when I do take it.

Weed has it values IMO for pain management (I don't have pain and don't need it), but some things can keep your life to the point of slacking. Once something takes control of your life it is difficult to gain control back for yourself. If you are able to give up drinking for several months you are able to give up weed and not go back to other forms of self-destruction.

Yeah--weed is a hard thing... It, for me, has the capability to remove any sort of drive in my life--even when I'm not high. I haven't smoked weed for quite a few years, and it took years and years of trying to use it successfully before determining that I cannot accomplish my goals in life (see pride) while all highed up. Additionally, I really came to loathe the person I become when I'm high.

I'm also unsure of cannabis' ability to affect testosterone levels, but I know it makes me feel like less of a man.

A few ppl in my life would disagree with my views on weed, but chances are, if you're making a post like this, you would most likely benefit from dropping the weed.

I had to quit for a job i need to pass a drug test for in the end. I have not smoked for a month now. I think there are arguments whether weed lowers test is unclear. I really don't find it good for pain unless its back pain or stomach problems. Here's is somthing i found ....

Government experts concede that pot has no permanent effect on the male or female reproductive systems.1 A few studies have suggested that heavy marijuana use may have a reversible, suppressive effect on male testicular function.2 A recent study by Dr. Robert Block has refuted earlier research suggesting that pot lowers testosterone or other sex hormones in men or women.3 In contrast, heavy alcohol drinking is known to lower testosterone levels and cause impotence. A couple of lab studies indicated that very heavy marijuana smoking might lower sperm counts. However, surveys of chronic smokers have turned up no indication of infertility or other abnormalities.

Less is known about the effects of cannabis on human females. Some animal studies suggest that pot might temporarily lower fertility or increase the risk of fetal loss, but this evidence is of dubious relevance to humans.4 One human study suggested that pot may mildly disrupt ovulation. It is possible that adolescents are peculiarly vulnerable to hormonal disruptions from pot. However, not a single case of impaired fertility has ever been observed in humans of either sex.
