diet: dairy and burning fat

right now i'm on a semi-low carb diet (70g) ... i'm wondering if adding skim milk/lowfat milk to my daily diet is gonna interfere with my fat burning efforts? i've read opposing views and wonder if there's anything to it. by adding a big glass of milk with some All the Whey in it i'm getting a happy 400 cals w/ 18carbs that helps fill in my calories some. i'm still tweaking but i can't seem to hit 1700cals in a day yet

most of my carbs are greens and oatmeal.

quick breakdown:

breakfast: All the Whey shake w/ strawberries and oatmeal

meal 2: tuna and onions (maybe a piece of fruit)

meal 3: chicken breast w/ mixed greens salad

meal 4: all the whey shake in lowfat milk

meal 5: steak (or some meat variation) and greens

meal 6: celery and peanut butter or some cottage cheese

i'm hitting about 1500-1600 cals here. 70g carbs on non-workout days, 100g carbs on workout days.

Milk has lactose, which is basically a simple sugar. This is why it's best to avoid it while dieting. At least that's my understanding.

When "cuting" I eliminate all milk from my diet. I find it gives me a "smooth" apperance. There are better post workout cars then the lactose found in milk. I would go with 30-40g's of Dextrose post workout with your shake.

I'm eating cottage cheese as i write this. Its just too convenient....probly need to cut back on dairy myself.-DOC
