Default Why separate fats/carbs?

Hey Bros,

I heard it said that it is beneficial to have carbs and fats at separate meal times, though I didn't get a conclusive reason why. Was hoping someone around here may be able to shed a little light on the subject.

Default Carbs will cause insulin release...

..if there is a lot of Fat in the system insulin will suttle it to storage sites(love handles).
Don't do high GI carbs & Fat together, however lower GI carbs will trigger less insulin response and in turn not contribute as much to fat storage.

Nobody tells me what to do.....Not even ME

How much time apart to avoid the above mentioned. Are you saying its a good idea to separate fats/carbs by about 2 or 3 hours or so?

Default Not quite sure about timing...

..but I sorta interpret it( at least in my diet)

if I am having pizza, the combination of high fat and High Gi carbs will cause more of the Fat calories to be stored.

and the opposite would be..

if I eat a 14oz Ribeye steak(pretty high fat content) and I skip the bread and potatoes and have a salad instead. Those fat calories are less likely to be stored(some will still) since there was little/no insulin response to that Meal

how much fat would be too much for a low gi carb meal, like is 30 g of fat too much for 50 g carb

Default Mr X would know better, but...

..I believe that Low GI carbs combined with a High Pro and Mod Fat meal would be very weak at stimulating insulin. The Fat and Pro would slow all the nutrient absorption including the carbs.

example:

8oz Hamburger
2 slices cheese
40gram Whole Grain Bun

The bun would cause an increased insulin release, however the fat and large amount of protein would cancel/curb the spike and limit fat storage

So if you were gonna make a healty pizza(can't stop thinkin of PIZZA at 830am! )

Use a whole grain crust. Pumpernickle is 49-GI but I'm not sure what it would taste like as a pizza
LOw fat Mozzarella
1/2-1lb sliced marinated chicken(cooked)
Use Tomato paste or crushed tomato instead of sugary jar sauce

That would be about as body friendly as you could get
