Depressed

I don’t know what it is lately but I have been sooo depressed. I have absolutely no drive haven’t been eating right, haven’t been to the gym in about 2 weeks (and have no desire to go). I toss and turn all night and can’t fall asleep, I hate coming to my job. My boss sucks.

I hate being this way I am usually a very motivated person. I stopped training, I stopped dieting, I stopped juicing. I can’t put my finger on it. I can’t seem to get motivated and positive and all things considered things are going well. I have a great girl, good job, just started a small business and bought a custom Harley.

But all I can focus on are the negatives. I been looking for a new job, but I am not even sure I want to find one in the field I am in. I just feel a need to do something extreme, life changing, SOMETHING EXCITING. My dad is 55 and has been diagnosed with colon cancer twice and is now looking at possible prostate cancer. He has been through 2 surgeries so far and nearly 2 ½ years of Chemo Therapy. Seeing this all I keep thinking is that I have to be sure to make the best of life NOW!!! I feel like I am wasting it.

i get like that, and probably most people do..... get a new hobby, read a book, think for a day about not being with your girl so you appreciate her that much more the next day....whatever you can do... use your boredom to fire yourself harder into your biz.....look into some good books to read about marketing/branding.... i know two titles of books that are fun to read not usual biz boring shit.... i don't know the authors though..but "radical marketing" and "creating brand loyalty"

as far as thinking everything as a negative.... try to turn negatives into positives... i used to listen to tony robbins a bit and he's got a tape out there on doing this.... challenges you to try for one whole week to not think about anything netatively....its TOUGH, but dooable.... like fuck that kid just ran into my car.....think more like, well that kid just learned to be more careful.... etc. etc...

infact, she just went for bone scans because they were concerned with the pains she was having...lucky it's just severe arthirits from all the chemo and radiation and not bone cancer... until we got the results back i wasn't able to sleep, eat or "play" happy at work... that to me was a huge part of my worries as i am sure it is a source of yours...as my friends tell me...keep your chin up kiddo...

as far as depression from gear, let the big dawgs answer that one for yah...

just a suggestion get back in the gym.i always feel better when i am done.I agree i think we all get down .hell for about a month i had no desire to do anything but lay around and be a slug.i made myself get up and go to the gym wether it was just for a light day or for a bit of cardio and i always ended up going at it hardcore once i got there.I hope things get better for ya

the more disappointed I get with my life. Maybe its a lot of regrets, but your's may just be from being tired and needing to be recharged. All of these things that you feel happen to most everyone from time to time. There is nothing wrong with taking a break from everything for a short period of time, but try not to take too much time away. Everyone so far has offered some good suggestions and I think I will try to throw in one more. If you have some personal time you can take away from work, or you can do this on a weekend, just go somewhere really quite and away from TV and luxuries. Go into the woods or sit by a stream and just mellow out and relax. Walk around and notice things and sit out at night and check out the stars. Do something totally relaxing for a day or two and have some quiet time. There you can think and try to think properly if you can, maybe even spend one of those days of relaxation with your girlfriend too.

it just came over me when i was in the Big Talk forum

honestly right now it is nice to know i am not the only one who gets like this sometimes

i like the idea of those books i will pick them up and the idea of getting away to someplace less stressful is great

i normally make a habit of riding my mountain bike into the woods either here in New York (yes we have woods) or over in New Joisey every Saturday morning. But the constant rain over here has prevented me from even doing that. Hopefully i can get the time and recharge.

I am glad to hear your mom is healthy, it's an inspiration to here of Stong people who beat this shit.

Honestly i think being away from the boards contributes to the depression as well. I recognize alot of the names here from Meso and they have helped me tons. I am going to make it a point to be on here more often.
You guys a great, not only have you been there with great nutrition, training and 'supplemetation' advice but now life advice too.

its good to hear that you made it back. Video games and high quantities of caffienne seem to help me. Also playing some descent music always ads a nice touch. No matter how bad things get just make an agenda and keep it. If that doesn't work get some help. Some times when your saratounin levels get low it is almost impossible to get them back.

Religon is for people who are afraid to go to hell. Spiritualism is for those of us who have been there!!!!!!!

Good to here you're got back to the gym bro. I tell you what, I turned 31 this year and tripped a little bit and do have up's and downs. But for the most part I try to wake up with a smile. Every once and a while a take a few minutes to think about life. You run your life, don't let other run you. What I mean is, if your boss is a dick, screw him that means he is a miserable person. Most miserable people hate happy positive people. So in return while you are happy and positive, this will chap his hide and make him even more miserable. Went through the same thing with my boss. Tried to put more on me the happier I was and in the end he just gave up, couldn't break me and I still piss him off...LOL While driving I put on some good tunes, listen to the words think of why the song is positive or why the aritst is angry ? Sounds stupid, but I look at the clouds every now and then, the trees and just tell myself, I wont be here forever but while I am I will soak up my surroundings, take pictures in my head and appreciate what I have rather then what I do not have. Currently you still have your dad (sorry for the cancer) so you should relish this time and thank him for everything and keep him positive as well to help him fight. The old saying, look at the glass half full or half empty? Mine is always half full. I want to make sure that if I step out of the house and get hit by a bus that I lived life to the fullest. Take up a new hobby, cooking, computers, cars, golf...
Keep hitting the gym and keep the body working and refresshed...We're all here for ya bro. Wake up tomorrow morning and tell yourself its going to be the best Friday ever.

I was having a hell of a time with a boss when I was just out of high-school. The guy rode me like a $5 mule. My dad gave me this piece of advice: Let the a$$hole have the last word. That way if later on he/she thinks back to the situation, and you had been argueing with them they may feel justified. If you're pleasant & everything, they MAY (probably not) think that they overreacted or whatever.

For about the last 4 years or so I have been pretty miserable. Hated my jobs; depressed as hell about my best friend of 13 years drowning, my aunt getting & passing from cancer, my mom being diagnosed with breast cancer; being fired from a job due to the depression interferring with my performance. The list goes on & on.

My wife & I recently had our first child (a beautiful little girl) and I started a new job that I actually enjoy going to!! It is truly amazing how much better I feel. I honestly can't remember the last time I felt this good emotionally and also physically. I personally know that keeping that positive attitude can be a real mutha, but all you can do is keep your head up and work thru it.

It may take awhile; but IT WILL IMPROVE.
