My intent here is to equip the Bro's with information they can take to their own local doctors, in hopes of (at least) getting screened for hypogonadism. Similarly, I will be posting selected clinical studies you may copy and take in with you, because the number one rule to remember when trying to understand why a physician treats the way he/she does: Doctors ONLY treat according to what they are knowledgeable of and comfortable with.

I will also be happy to discuss any and all reasons for why I draw these particular labs.

Following is a list of the labs I draw prior to beginning treatment:

Total Testosterone
Bioavailable Testosterone (sometimes called “Free and Loosely Bound”)
DHT
Estradiol (specify by the Extraction Method)
LH
FSH
Prolactin
Cortisol
TSH
CBC
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
Lipid Panel
PSA (if over 40)
IGF-1 (if HGH therapy is desired)


At the one month point, I follow-up with these assays:
Total Testosterone
Bioavailable Testosterone
Estradiol (specify by the Extraction Method)
DHT (if patient is using a transdermal delivery system)
FSH
CBC
Lipid Panel
Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
(if ALT/AST from above are elevated, then get a GGT)

Of course, the list is tailored to each particular patient.

600 +/- ng/dL total test that is normal for men? Then there is the available free test. Not enough to get me over the hump for sure since my T4 levels range around 10 as well as having blood sugar that is 60. I have always felt better with more test in my system and I know that test can be like an MAO Inhibitor too. High metabolism, low blood sugar, testosterone = 580, means only normal as far as frick and frack are concerned. I suffer from depression more often than enough, but I do a great job of hiding it too. I would think that testosterone alone could cure a great many people of depressive disorders. My former doctor was also my friend before I moved, but now its hard to find a doctor who will listen. The only reason my former doc listened to me is because I saved two of his patients when I worked pathology and he was in his residency. You don't know how bad I want to walk into a doctor's office and just look at the doc and tell him, "You don't know shit!"

Guys and gals? If you have any questions, I'd recommend that you use any info that SWALE can give you to arm yourself against the general ignorance that is in academia and continuing academia that arms most doctors with opinions that are biased.

God gave us testosterone for a reason (men and women both). It isn't evil but those out there in no man's land would like to make it a crime to have testosterone naturally, and if they could do so, they'd make it a crime to be a man too.
