For once and for all: The REAL difference between AMINO ACIDS and PROTEIN ?

Yeah yeah. I know that Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. Bonded chains of aminos blah blah blah. But besides throwing definitions like that what is the REAL difference between consuming AMINO acids supplementations (tabs)and consuming normal whey protein (powder)

I'll give an example:

I'm now holding a supplement that claims to be an AMINO acids formula. 3 Tablets contain 6g of protein (24 cals).
The ingredients:
Natural enzymatic digest of whey protein isolate

Is this the same as normal consuming Whey Protein Isolate powder ? Or are these really pre-digested amino acids in their free non bonded form.

What would be the difference.

There is no difference, it's like taking in milk vs. butter(made of the same milk).

AAs make up protein, so either way you're taking in protein. The only real difference is that you'd have to take in a lot of AAs to make up for daily protein intake.

so why are they specifing "Pre-Digested" and "Enzymatically Naturally pre-digested". Isn't it easier for the body to get the aminos free than break them first by itself?

The pre-digestion claims are to let consumers know that the amino acids have been man-made & extracted from a protien source. When taking AA's; whether it be free-form, bonded, pre-digested, they all can not mimic the true nitrogen influx of a real food source supplementation. Food, & Protein shakes are going to give you the highest quality of an amino acid array. Caplet aminos are lacking the premium concentrations needed for building blocks. L-Glutamine, & a few others are lacking thru oral nutriceuticals. They are also half-lifed, so your amino acid frequency will be quaddrupled if tablets are your choice.
Nothing beats the power of food for optimum amino concentration in the blood. [2-4 25g protein shakes daily is sufficent, as well as lean red meats, fish, poultry, eggs, & legumes ( or/ beans.)

Another difference is the rapidity of absorption of aminos over breaking down the proteins too. Depends on what you need when you need it.
