Please Help (Mr. X and any who have time)

i got ripped apart on another board for stating 2 ideas i believe i have read numerous times on different web pages:

1.) muscle and fat are gained on a 1:1 ratio when natural

2.) one can expect to gain 1 to 2 pounds of lean body mass in a month while natural

can someone please help verify this/back it up.

mr. x, i am 99% sure i have read numerous posts by you stating these 2 fields of thought. please give me some information to go back with, whether i'm right or wrong.

There are a lot of variables such as genetics,training,recovery,diet,amount of experience training,etc.What you state could be true in some cases and not in others.It could also vary month to month for any given individual.Impossible to predict,IMO,but what you say seems reasonable ballpark.

like SYL said, that's really a factor of so many variables, you can be natural and eat like a slob and be natural and eat clean, so it really depends. Also, genetics and lifestyle (sleep/strees etc..) can play a major role in your assumptions; honestly, I wouldn't say that 1-2lbs. of lean body mass is "impossible", but I've seen guys gain 10lbs. tops a year natural w/ good genetics (lean muscle mass) - so it depends.

thank you both for the replies.

i replied to a post about some guy gaining 7 pounds in 2 months and he was saying that it was all muscle and he had lowered his fat, naturally, was carrying no water, etc. then someone else said they had just gained 30 pounds of all lbm, with a drop in bf, over 5 months. that's 3 ounces lbm a day. needless to say, when i stated that muscle and fat are gained with a near 1:1 ratio and one could hope for 1 to 2 pounds lbm a month if everything goes right, i was ripped apart. ******** had a field day and when i mentioned that i was a huge proponent of Mr. X's theories, he acted like he had never heard of you and your theories are completely wrong. anyway, thanks again.

I've seen many people gain lean muscle tissue while lowering bodyfat at the same exact time. It all depends on what shape you are in when you start first/foremost, what ancillaries you use, if any, your genetics, etc. Nothing is cut/dry in a 1 to 1 ratio.
