ketosis and blood glucose

I had a question related to blood glucose levels. I have been on the body opus diet for a few weeks. On Sunday, I bought a glucometer to measure my blood levels.

By Tuesday morning, my blood glucose level was down to 35, so I assumed I was in ketosis. All day I consumed a few burger patties, mayonaise, coconut oil, flax seed oil, peparoni slices. I mowed the lawn (about 30 min) and walked on the treadmill at 130bps for 20 minutes

When I woke up this morning I just didn't feel like I was in ketosis I checked my b/g levels and I was at 82.

My question is, how did my blood glucose level rise so much. My fat levels were more than 1:1 to my protein ratios. I did not have more than 20grams of carbs even if the peparoni had trace amounts.

Could I still be in ketosis and register that high on the glucometer? Any ideas why my levels could rise that much?

ketones will measure as blood sugar on the glucose test. Get some keto strips and piss on them to see your ketone levels. You also might be eating too much protein. I weigh 225 and I make sure that my protein intake is never above 180 grams per day while on any type of ketogenic diet. Some days I go as low as 150 grams. A ratio of 1.5/1 is about ideal for fat to protein on ketogenic diets.

I use the keto strips as well, but was kind of tired of them. Even when I know I am in deep keto, sometimes they won't register much change in color. I read somewhere that any color change is indicative of keto. For the day where I was at 35 b/g, i did use the strips and registered as minimal.

During the CKD I strive for 75% Fat, 25% Protein. While I do not have an exact number of protein grams on paper for that day, I am almost certain that I did not get enough protein to spill over. I will do some calculating later tonight though.

Any CKD'ers use glucometers to measure their b/g?

Let's just assume that I had the proper ratio of fat to protein, can b/g levels have changed due to anything else? Maybe from the stores in my liver?

Muscle glycogen is converted to glucose.That could easily account for it.There are other variables involved with the absolute accuracy of all this as well.I wouldn't worry about all this checking and testing.Just do what you're supposed to do.

You're right. I didn't need to check my levels but I did it anyway.

Sometimes on a diet, you can obsess over the dumbest thing...
