ricotta>> cottage cheese

here in Malta we have ricotta which i gess is the same as your cottage cheese
these are the nutritional fact for 100 gr

cal 104
protein 15gr
fat 4gr
carbs 2gr
salt 1%
price 0.28 u$d
its very cheap and its got alot of protein probably its the cheapest source of protein i can take ,and it can be mixed practically with evrything

what do you guys think, would it be ok to take like 500 grams of it a day

ricotta is not the same as cottage cheese... u put ricotta cheese on pasta. cottage cheese is slightly better for you. it tastes more salty. i don't see what would be wrong with it

I agree with mac83.The only thing I'm not sure about is what does 1% salt mean?Does that mean 1% of 100g?Cause that would be 5g sodium with 500g.That's a lot.Or does it mean 1% of your daily recomended allowance?Cause that would only be 5%.

yea, i would like to say that since ricotta doesn't taste as salty as cottage cheese that i would assume it is not THAT high in sodium

just went to my fridge..i have a part skim ricotta cheese.. a serving is 62g
100 cals
6g fat
80mg sodium
2g carbs
8g protien

its basically the same ,here we do not have cottage cheese .
ricotta i can mix it with jelly or protein powder
tuna + ricotta
mixed veg and ricotta
its always a good mixture because its not salty at all , and sometimes i can say that it even have a sweet taste
