Default SLOW progress on ANPB diet

I've been on the ANPB diet for almost two weeks now and have received very little results, and the thing is, I was also cutting 4 weeks prior to that with little to no effect. I have followed the diet to a t. I follow a westside lifting template with two days of sled dragging. My total calories each day are 2100 plus a refeed on Sunday that comes in at about 4000. I weigh 200 pounds, have lost from 204, but think that is mostly glycogen and water. My body fat calipers are telling me the same thing that they were two weeks ago. No mirror results either. BTW, age: 20, height 6 foot 3. Any thoughts are most appreciated.

Your 6'3" at 200lbs and your dieting?

I am a little confused here.

yes, I knew someone would chime in about my height and weight I'm currently at around 13-15% bodyfat, so I would like to get down to at least 9-10% before actually bulking seriously. I gain fat and muscle easily, so bulking is no problem, but at my bodyfat percentage I fear that too much of what I build will be fat.

Well if you are following the diet exactly (clean carb-up) and are not losing weight, you will either have to add cardio and/or drop the calories.

did you have refeeds in your prior (4 week) diet? if not, the lack of leptin and T4->T3 conversion will play a big factor in long-term fat-loss

Hey Mr. X,
No, my previous diet did not include a refeed, thanks much for the info. However, the strangest thing has happened, I got off the diet for a period of two days to pursue a more whole food diet with similar macronutrient ratios except for 30 grams of carbs during the morning and my abs are actully more visible. This could be due to the fact that I was using whey protein concentrate for those two weeks, as opposed to casein or egg white protein, which I have since ordered. I doubt it has anything to do with the "new" diet(T-Dawg 2.0 to be exact), as two days is far too short to prdouce results. I did have a question, however, tonight I ate my one cheat meal of 5 slices of pizza and 2 breadstick, and i was gonig to do this in place of the refeed, since I got off the ANPB diet. Would it be smarter to just have a one day redeed of 70% C, 20% P, and 10% Fat instead of the cheat meal i had tonight? Also, should I carb up tomorrow since I already cheated tonight? Thankyou for all our help and articles u provide.

Your best bet is to get off all diets for 4 weeks, 2 weeks is going to be eat what you want - within reason, don't eat 10 cheesecakes in 2 hours, just enjoy yourself. Then, 2 weeks following just eat a 60%carbs/30%protein/10%fat, make sure you only use LOW-gi carbs (oatmeal/beans/veggies/wheat) and omega fats as well as high quality proteins. Then you can start on a diet and see results again.

Thanks Mr. X, as always, much appreciated. I've never eaten that high ratio of carbs before, but I seem to be making good progress on having a refeed for 8 hours on wednesday and a full day on Sunday, keeping calories around 2000-2200 and very low carb on other days, possibly having morning oatmeal with protein powder. If I stop seeing results, I will definitely do what you insist. BTW, could you explain the reasoning behind it? I would like to ask you a quesion regarding my girlfriend, however, if you don't mind. She has an extremely hard time losing body fat. Now she is not fat at all, she is probably around 21% @ 136 lbs and 5' 3, but a mjaority of her fat is stored in her abdominal/hip area. She tried the ANPB diet for two weeks @ 1200 calories while working out with 3-5 reps of 3-5 sets of deadlift walks, overhead squat presses, and sternum pulldowns, followed by one pressing exercise for 6-8 reps. She did 3 high intensity interval training days on the eliptical (right knee tracking problem, had to find something fairly low impact) and one 45 minute cardio session at a slow pace(steep incline, 3.6 mph). She lost no weight at all, and she did do one refeed, however, she has since caught a bug that has been going around and has not worked out in over a week and has been eating like a "normal person" until she gets better. I told her when she gets better she should continue with her workout regimen and revert back to a diet she wrote which is moderate carb, moderate protein, low fat and around 1300 calories. She said she was going to eat a lot of fruit. She is very stressed at the moment due to school and not seeing results, so I presume cortisol could be the culprit, although that sounds WAY to easy to blame it on that. She is on birth control. I'm not sure what her maintenance intake is, as she has a fairly slow metabolism(the first time she started lifting weights she gained 20lbs in 6 months without changing her eating habits). Do you have any tips for her, it would help her, which would help me Thankyou so much.

quick answer, due to your long-term dieting, your leptin levels are low/none and your T4->T3 conversion is not proper in the liver - also, negative nitrogen balance and constant gluconeogenesis will cause all these problems.
