It depends on how hard you train and what you're trying to do.I believe in brief workouts,maximum effort and then some,training 3 or 4 times a week,including deadlifts and squats.I used to train 2 hrs a day,6,7 days a week,and I'm talking TRAINING.Without juice.Now my workouts average 45 min,and that's to work back AND chest,or legs,or arms and shoulders.I realized that instead of trying to see how much work I could STAND,it was better to see what is the MINIMUM amount required?I have lots of other things to do than spend my life in the gym.I have an article on splits and routines in the SYL articles forum,if you haven't seen it.

I think SYL does have a healthy attitude on training and u could do wisely listeníng him.U can train every other day or every day ´till the body is trained once( every musclegroup). If u train every other day it means the training days differ every week and if u can do so it´s perfectly ok.
I personally have 4 different days in week and rest the weekends( mon. back, bi´s , tuesd. chest,tri´s , wed. legs . thursd. shoulders ). I spent 30 min. to 50 min of TRAINING each time. My training days might differ a bit , but in general I try to train everything once(exept hamstrings twice) and call it a week then. I don´t use steroids of anykind and never have used , so I can´t really tell the effect the usage of such "aid". From what i´ve read over the yrs with the juice one can train much more and never need to care about recuperation that much.... Those who know better might tell u more about it , but I don´t recommend juice to anyone. Progress might be much slower without , but your overall health will be much better without them. Choise is yours , but they definetly HAVE an effect on one´s training! Believe me 45 min. of hard training is all u need in a workout. Read SYL´s article !

Ok,how 'bout 2 hrs am,and 2 hrs pm,6 days a week?There are a few factors to consider,so there really is no pat answer.As long as you are getting stronger and are enthusiastic about training,you are not overtraining.So train as much as you like.Again though,just because you can stand a shitload of training,it doesn't necessarily mean that it is any more effective.I believe that once you've pounded the nail,there's no need to keep hitting it.If you can't push hard enough in one set,do another.If you need to do more than 3 sets of an exercise you aren't trying very hard,IMO.As far as frequency,I think twice a week per bodypart should do it.

I'm 9 weeks post cycle so I'm kinda in a resting phase. One day I lift w/20 minutes cardio; the next day I do 45 minutes cardio - 6 days a week. I'm trying to drop 10 lbs because on 1/1 I start 5x5 for 12-16 weeks.

I've been on a 5 day split......mon-fri w/ sat n sun off.LUV IT. Each bodypart gets its own day, and only gets hit once a week. 5x5 is my routine. Theres a good post from pittbull about basic 5x5 for powerlifting, doing squats on monday, bench on wednesday, deads on friday and having that be the core of your routine w/ sat n sun off. I'm going to adjust my routine based around that and go monday legs/squats......tuesday abs n calves.....weds chest/bench.......thurs shoulders n arms.....fri back/deads and schedule my cardio in around my everchanging work schedule. I'm looking forward to it.

Whatever works for you! Everyone's different.
I've worked five day splits and been exhausted all the time. I've worked three day splits and it was hard for me to stay motivated and on schedule. The trick is to find what works for you and helps you achieve your goals. I don't believe there is a right or wrong answer here as long as no-one says you should train non stop. LOL! |
