BP a little high

Hey guys,
I have a history of high BP in my family and I'm afraid that I may be succeptible.
I've worked out for close to 16 years now and consider myself in good health.
But recent checks have my blood pressure pretty high, between 145 - 156 / 90-101.
I'm about 30-40 lbs overweight but carry a lot of muscle. I recently started training again after 6 month hiatus. I'm 5'11" 260 lbs 30 yrs...
I want to bring my BP down and stay healthy. Do you guys have any tips on how I can bring down the BP? I do very little cardio and I have a desk job (programmer).

well jogging for 30 minutes everyday helps me when on tren to keep my bp down...

also avoid highly salted foods and eat more bananas

I have the same problem. Even when I was in pristine physical condition (damn...I was a real head turner in the good old days) I struggled with high blood pressure and ended up on medication. Potassium supplimentation helps, as does the DASH diet (which is counter productive to body building.)

If you can get your BP down without meds, you'll be much the better for it. Calcium channel blockers cause muscle cramps, especially at night...very ouchy. Beta blockers are REALLY nasty...I recommend flat-out refusing to take that one. ACE inhibitors cause a constant nagging tickle in the back of the throat. Diuretics work best for me but my current doctor refuses to prescribe one for me (SIGH) hence I'm getting a second opinion next week.

It´s said 10 kg (45 lbs) weight loss equals a medicine cycle for bp. First thing u must do is to get your weight down. Add cardio little by little and see what comes out . If things get better go on with the diet and aerobics. If things work nicely you´ll find the right weight for you in which you have the bp under control.
If your case is like Tarzana´s and these things mentioned don´t help THEN you need to see a doctor and ask what he has in store for you. Since I´m natural I don´t know excatly how roids act on bp but from what I´ve read and heard that can elevate the bp too. A halt in cycling should help in that case....

Oh and one more thing...if you are a drinker, QUIT.
