Percentage of BMR

I see -5-20% recommended, but Im wondering if there is any research backing up these percentages? For my weight, my bmr is 2400 and 80% of that seems too high to be losing fat efficiently.

Believe it or not, back in college I ran with about 1500cal a day--about 4-6 miles per day and lost tons of weight. I know its way different if one is bodybuilding and wants to keep muscle, I just cant get over the fact that 1900 calories will allow me to lose fat in the best way.

Its eating the right calories. If you want to lose weight quick, don't eat for 4 days. You'll obviously lose wieght but it won't be healthy. Solid fat loss is about steady results for a length of time, not a bunch of weight all at once.

Yeah I'm actually a CSCS certified trainer ( I forgot to mention this) but I guess I am asking what research, if any, shows the 'perfect' percentage of our BMRs to reduce?

what works for you guys? 10%, 20% reductions?

mmmmmm, than sorry can't help you. I can't gain weight, I don't worry about losing it
