Afternoon crash and burn - Why is this happening to me?

I'm not going to outline my entire diet here, just what I'm doing pre-crash.

I'm awake between 830-9am every day. I drink a cup of coffee, then drink a protien shake with oatmeal. I usually finish this 20 minutes before I get to the gym.

I'll drink around 1/2 gallon of water during my workout, sometimes more if it's really humid in there (AC is shut off in the gym due to construction ).

Shower, then post workout shake is double whey and a serving of oatmeal. I continue drinking water, at least another quart.

2 hours or so later, I'll eat 4-6oz of steak, 3 eggs, and 2 pieces of toast.

Then...WHAM! Crash and burn. It's been happening to me every day this week. I feel totally drained and lazy as hell, like it's nap time.

My daily water intake is high, 1 1/2 to 2 gallons a day. The only thing that seems to pull me out of it with ease is a cup of coffee in the afternoon, which I don't mind because I like coffee.

Any ideas? My carbs are clean except for the milk I mix my shakes in. The last time this was happening to me I was using a 1200 cal weight gainer and figured it was just a sugar crash.

I'd do my morning stuff, lift my ass off, eat my after lift meal, then I feel like i just got shot with an elephant tranquilizer. I'd chug coffee till I got home from work
I have no advice, dunno what's causing it.

For now, I'll take it as a good sign that I'm lifting heavy enough to wear myself out. Yesterday I HAD to take a nap, but I was also up really late the night before finishing up some stuff for a class.

I usually crash at work around 3ish. I just found the secret of no more crashing and burning though and it's Dunkin Donuts Turbo Ice. The shit made me off the wall and I drink those iced coffee's all the time.

The odd thing is, I only get the crash durring the day. If I lift at night, I'm wired....

Maybe it is the toast... white bread has the same glycemic index as sugar.... your insulin could be spiking throwing you into a state of drowsiness.

I'm using wheat bread though, not white.

Ulcaster - I prefer my eggs with yolk, sunny side up, and the yolk has to be runny. I like soaking up the yellow with the toast. Good stuff.

Ul could you go into detail as to what would be the downside to eating the yolks as well as the whites. When I was working out before I just ate the whites. Now my daughter cooks them for me and she leaves the yolks in so I eat them. is this hurting me? thanks

Crak maybe a better vitamin. but I have read more than one article that says it is best to take a nap. but we dont all get that luxury.
