Strongman??????

Have a friend who is interested in moving from powerlifting to strongman. He was wondering if I could ask someone about a workout he could start with. We've been pulling my Tracker around my driveway after leg day(about a 1/4 mile) just for that extra burn, but he wants to compete.

There are probably training groups near him if he is interested tell him to go to NASS forum it is strictly for training groups and competitions.
As far as transitioning into a strongman routine.I would keep the dl and squat for base lifts we do more box squatting than oly squatting.Instead of focusing on bench press we focus more on cleaning and pressing.There is almost always an overhead event in a competition.Picking up a log or making one is a definite must.I use brutestrength equiptment Lance has always been fair priced but does take awhile to get stuff out.
getting a couple empty kegs is also a neccesity .we fill em with sand and pick em up and run roughly 50 feet with em.there are alot of keg loads in medleys in a competition.
Truck pulls are good .Maybe pick up some one inch rope for an arm over arm pull.And a heavy tire is also a must tire flipping is awsome for endurance and there is almost always something to do with a tire flip in most comps.also he can sit in the tire for the arm over arm pull.
Most places will give you the tire if you find one.

and I still didnt answer your question.One simple variation of a workout for the week would be DL day with assisting lifts.An overhead press day with assisting lifts possibly bench as an assistance lift .squats day (nuff said there) and then two event days .Like I said email me and I will give ya a more detailed workout and point him in the right direction for more info.Is he a lightweight(under231)or a hvyweight
