Or whatever the hell it is they keep advertising.Is it just a marketing scheme or is there such a hormone that causes one to retain abdominal fat?
Up until a few years ago I had never heard of it.
Just curious if anyone has any informed answers about it

Sounds like a scam. Most products advertised on television is bull to begin with in my opinion.

I know which comercial you are talking about.....

There is no such this as spot reduction in the gym, so I highly doubt there would ever be any such thing when it comes down to pills.

Crtisol is a hormone released by our body whenever stress is induced weather it be from overtraining, emotional or mental. It is referred to as a catabolic hormone because it breaks down muscle as well as causes increase in fat accumulation. Steroids are not only anticatabolic but anticatabolic as well because they block cotisol receptors in muscle. I doubt that any of the otc pills sold on tv actually have much effect on cortisol levels. There are powerful anticortisol drugs such as cytdren, but when cortisol levels fall to low it can be painful as well as dangerous.

Natural ways to reduce cortisol levels are to avoid overtraining, get adaquate rest and sleep and try not to fret over things.
