stuck @ a lifting platue ?

most of you probably know this but i will post it anyway.
i see so many people @ the gym & they complain about not getting any stronger. when i ask & watch there routine i can see why. i will use chest as an example. years ago my heavy set on bench was 185lbs.the body is very adaptable & will accustom itself to workloads. i had to shock my body w/ intensity techniques. i made my heavy set 205 & could only do it 2 times. a month later i was hitting 6 clean reps & made my heavy set 225. a month later 245 . in 3 months i was hitting 245 for 5-7 reps. after one year i was hitting 275 for 6-7 reps.
i gained strength at a rapid rate using this technique, but by the time i was hitting 295 for 6-7 reps my progress almost stopped. i guess my strength out grew my size. i was only 205 when i was pressing 295 for 7-8 reps.
other shock techniques include changing routine, forced reps, less rest between sets & doing unfamiliar exercises in an unfamiliar order.
i know this is elementary for some of you but this thread was not intended for advanced trainers

Old heads need reminding too. Sometimes we get so comfortable where we are, we forget the basics.
