Default Increasing My Mile run.

I need to increase my time for the mile run.

My best was (hate to say) 11 minutes.

I need to do 8 minutes or better.

I have 4 months to do so, so any tips would be appreciated.

a mile run huh. i would do time half miles. or run jog a lap at full speed jog a lap runa lap jog a lap and so on for a mile. that will beat the shit out of your body.

Just run 1-2 miles at least every other day. Start with lower intensity (speed), and work your way up. I train every fall for a 2 mile run for my Army PT test. This is what I usually do and run the 2 miles in around 14-15 min (not bad for someone who's 215lbs).

11 minutes is not that bad if you are not trained in running.
I think running 1 mile in 8 minutes is very doable in 4 months without too much pain.
I haven't tested myself in such small run but I know I can run 2 miles in a bit less than 16 minutes and I don't have exactly a long runner body! lol.
Interval training can be a good idea for you but is maybe not necessary. Try to be comfortable when running at first. You should be able to talk while running. Try to run at least 2 times a week. Increase your distance slowly but don't overtrain.
After one month or two you should be comfortable and be able to train for speed. Now internal training could be used.

running is one of those things, bro. the more you do, the better you get at it. I know those Army pussies only have to run a 2 mile PFT, but in the Corps we had to run a 3 mile PFT. I completed mine in 17:46 in boot camp and never had to do it again. (perks of being in special forces) n e how, it's not fun, but just run alot! unlike weightlifting, you don't need the off time for recovery, start running 5-6 days a week and don't really time yourself, just push your personal endurance. Also, being able to hold your breath for a long time will assist in being able to run better.

damn yup thats todays Marine corps when i was in it was manditory every 3 months even if you had a perfect 300 pft
